When the LED is energized by the control circuit, it emits light that activates the phototransistor, allowing current to flow in the fan's power circuit without direct electrical contact between the two circuits . This isolation protects sensitive microcontrollers from voltage spikes or faults in the fan circuit.Using an Optocoupler for Fan ControlPWM Control: Fans, especially DC or CPU fans, are often controlled using PWM signals (0–5V).
