ARCOS-1 operates in a ring configuration, providing redundancy and high-speed international connectivity. Phase 1 of the system has been in service since September 2001, and Phase 2 since March 2002, ensuring Belize has reliable access to global internet and telecommunications networks .Local Inter-Island Connectivity: Caye Caulker–San Pedro CableBelize Electricity Limited (BEL) is implementing the Seventh Power Project, which includes the installation of a 34.5 kV submarine cable connecting San Pedro and Caye Caulker on Ambergris Caye . This project involves a marine survey conducted by specialized vessels to map the seabed and ensure safe and accurate cable installation . The cable is designed to enhance electricity infrastructure, providing a more reliable power supply to the islands, and is expected to be completed by the end of 2024 .
